Synchronization Modes

By synchronizing information between Project Management and Microsoft Project, you have the advantage of using the best of both possible worlds. Depending on your project management strategy, you can use one application to perform all planning and tracking activities, and then use the other for publishing project information to managers, participants and stakeholders, or use both to share control of different aspects of the project. See Project Management Strategies for more information about different project management strategies.

The project manager can select from three synchronization modes for updating information between Project Management and Microsoft Project:

Each mode offers a different strategy for communication between the two applications and has its own set of advantages.

The synchronization mode for the project should be configured based on your preferences. See Project-Level Settings for Integration and Setting a Synchronization Mode for Project Management and Microsoft Project for more information.
